After four years of intensive training, ITaRS came to an end on March 31, 2016. Our fellows have become our alumni and are heading off to pursue their career in academia or the private sector. We are using our best efforts to further develop the ITaRS concept for future projects.

Before we freeze the contents of this website, we are proud to share with you this video, developed by Stefan Kneifel at the University of Cologne. It answers the question from one of the topics of the ITaRS summer school in Jülich 2014: "How does a cloud form?"

Pilar Defense

On February 11, ITaRS-fellow Pilar Gumà-Claramunt defended her PhD thesis on "Synergy between Doppler radar and Raman lidar for aerosol investigation" at the University of Basilicata.

Robert Banks, an ITaRS fellow at Barcelona, presented a poster titled, “Meteorological applications of a continuously-operating micropulse lidar in Barcelona, Spain” at the 2016 annual meeting of the AMS. The work (Banks et al., 2015) synergizes use of a micropulse lidar (MPL), radiosoundings, and a numerical weather prediction model to study the planetary boundary layer (PBL).

Robert Banks, an ITaRS fellow at Barcelona, participated as co-author in a recent study presented at the 2015 Fall Meeting of the American Geophysical Union. The work (Lewis et al., 2015) combines efforts from NASA Goddard, UMBC JCET, Barcelona Supercomputing Center, and the Technical University of Catalonia.

On the 25th of September, I went to the "Researchers' night" organized at the National Technical University of Athens at the center of Athens, Greece. It was an outreach activity addressed to pupils and young students who were curious to learn about innovative technological developments and get a feeling of the findings of scientists in several disciplines of engineering.
